first of all, what is periscope?

hi, and welcome!
if you're new to [oomph.], check out the WHO page for a quick intro.
if you're new to periscope, read on.

periscope is a live streaming mobile app that allows you to 'discover the world through someone else's eyes'. it consists of broadcasters (or scopers) who are live on video via their cell phone and viewers who are watching the video on their phone via the periscope app or on the web via their computer.

broadcasting live a sunset on the beach.

viewers can interact with the broadcaster during the live stream by commenting via text messages on what they are seeing and by giving hearts (equivalent to facebook/instagram likes) by tapping their screen. while the broadcaster cannot see the viewers, he/she can talk to the viewers and respond to the comments. if you are watching a live broadcast on your computer, you are not able to comment and interact. (so, get the app!).

comments (left) and hearts (right).

after your broadcast ends, it is available for replay for 24 hours. viewers can watch the replay and also give hearts. you are not able to comment on a replay.

periscope app was released in march 2015. i joined towards the end of may and have been enjoying it so far. i have connected with a lot of great people and look forward to meeting you! come join me for sunsets (sometimes sunrises), rooftop and mountain top views, wave-watching at the beach, and even an occasional face-to-face chat over coffee.

are you on periscope or any other live streaming app?
if so, what do you scope about?
